Checked Baggage

The following are the free allowances for checked baggage for each class of service on Hainan Airlines, between the United States and China and between Canada and China. Passengers with checked baggage exceeding the allowance stated below will be charged for excess baggage.

Notes: 1. Students/immigrants must have purchased a ticket at a Hainan Airlines Ticketing Office in person to receive free baggage allowance offer. Also, students are required to travel on student fares (SD) and to present appropriate identification and documents at the time of ticketing and check-in. Carry-On Baggage

Each passenger traveling on Hainan Airlines flights between USA and China is permitted to take one piece of baggage and one personal article onboard, which should be in accordance with the following regulations:

Examples of personal articles are handbags, briefcases, notebook computers, cameras, diaper bags and other articles with volume not exceeding 15 x 11 x 6 inches (38 x 28 x 15cm).

1. Weight: may not exceed 22 Lbs (10 kg).
2. The total length, width and height of each piece of carry-on baggage may not exceed 45 inches (115 cm).
3. Carry-on baggage must fit into the overhead bin or under the seat directly in front of each passenger.
4. The following articles are also allowed to be carried on board:  Necessary assistance devices for passengers (crutches, etc), one box or bag of duty free items, an overcoat, an umbrella and a reasonable amount of reading material.

Remarks: Overweight/oversized baggage is charged in USD. If paid in CNY, it shall be calculated according to the exchange rate between CNY and USD in effect on the departure date.

Remarks: If charges are paid in other currencies, charges will be calculated based on the exchange rate at the time of departure. Baggage regulations of the Canada-Beijing segment will apply to connecting flights within Mainland China operated by Hainan Airlines provided that the passenger is connecting on the same ticket. Baggage regulations of the Canada-Beijing segment will apply to connecting flights within Mainland China operated by Hainan Airlines on separate tickets from the Canada-Beijing segment, provided that the connecting time is within 24 hours.

Other Special Baggage Handling

A service charge of 35 USD shall be imposed for any checked baggage containing dry ice.

A request to upgrade has to be sent one hour before departure. There are no fees charged to passengers who request for a Seat Upgrade from Economy to Business Class. Passenger only has to pay for the fare difference between the original and new fares. Hainan Airlines will not accept any upgrade request on board a flight.

Hainan Airlines does not currently charge any fees (service/administrative) to passengers who have booked through the airline, city or airport ticket offices, phone reservations systems or award redemptions.

For international travel, the change and cancellation fees may vary based on location and type of fare. Please see below for a general guideline of approximate charges:

Unaccompanied minors traveling only from Seattle, WA to Beijing, China will be charged at adult fares

If you are 2-11 years old:

You will need to purchase applicable adult fare ticket, no child discount You will need to fill UM Form at the time of request

If you are 12-15 years old:

You will need to fill UM form at the time of request $70.00 USD fee (each international segment) applies

Pets as Carry-On Baggage

• Hainan Airlines does not accept pets in the cabin as carry-on baggage, with the exception of service animals.
