Alaska Airlines

Passengers on Alaska Airlines (AS) connecting flights via Seattle can enjoy the same free baggage rate for the Alaska Airlines (AS) segment when traveling within 12 hours. If the connecting time exceeds 12 hours, Alaska Airlines charges additional baggage fees at the following rates: 20 USD for each piece (first 3 pieces) and 50 USD for any additional pieces. American Airlines

Update on Codeshare: Hainan Airlines and American Airlines are now working together as codeshare partners to offer extended benefits and services for our passengers. Please be sure to check your itinerary as different baggage policies may apply throughout your trip when flying on multiple operating carrier(s).

1) When booking for a flight online, click on the Flight Details link on your online reservation:

2) Check to see if a non-Hainan operating flight is indicated in a flight segment, i.e. "American Airlines AA269" as seen below, in which case it is recommended to contact the operating carrier directly for its specific baggage policies, as they may be different from Hainan Airlines.

For example, a Premium Class passenger traveling on an American Airlines operating flight (indicated as HU*) from Chicago to Beijing is entitled to 3 free bags, but when traveling on a Hainan Airlines operating flight (indicated as HU) is entitled to only 2 free bags.

Passengers on American (AA) connecting flights via Seattle can enjoy the same free baggage rate for the American (AA) segment when traveling within 12 hours. If the connecting time exceeds 12 hours, American (AA) Airlines may charge additional baggage fees. Refer to the individual carrier's baggage policy for fees/charges.

Frontier Airlines

Passengers on Frontier Airlines (F9) connecting flights via Seattle can enjoy the same free baggage rate for the Frontier (F9) segment when traveling within 12 hours. If the connecting time exceeds 12 hours, Frontier (F9) Airlines may charge additional baggage fees. Refer to the individual carrier's baggage policy for fees/charges.

United Airlines

Passengers on United Airlines (UA) connecting flights via Seattle can enjoy the same free baggage rate for the United Airlines (UA) segment when traveling within 12 hours. If the connecting time exceeds 12 hours, United Airlines (UA) may charge additional baggage fees. Refer to the individual carrier's baggage policy for fees/charges.
