Hangzhou is situated in the subtropical monsoon region with four distinctive seasons. It is nicknamed “Small Fire Stove” as its summer is hot and humid. However, in winter, it is cold and dry. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit Hangzhou. Hangzhou is warm and humid with abundant sunshine and rainfall. The average annual temperature is 16.2℃, with an average temperature of 28.6℃ in summer and 3.8℃ in winter. There is a total of 230 to 260 frost-free days. Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport is located on the southern bank of the Qiantangjiang, east of Xinjie Town in Xiaoshan District. It is 27 kilometers from the city centre and 15 kilometers from the centre of Xiaoshan District. From the airport, there are many domestic flights flying to large and medium sized cities in China and regular international flights to Japan, Korea and other countries.
Airport shuttle buses depart from the China Civil aviation office at Wulinmen at in the city (No. 390 Tiyuchang Road). The journey takes approximately 50 minutes and costs RMB 20 per person. It is 31 kilometres by taxi from the China Civil aviation office at Wulinmen to Xiaoshan International Airport.
There are two toll stations, one at Qianjiang Sanqiao Bridge (or Qianjiang Erqiao Bridge) and the other along the airport road. Along the airport road, there is no toll charge when entering the airport but there is a toll fee of RMB 15 when exiting the airport via Qianjiang Sanqiao Bridge and a toll fee of RMB 10 will be charged when travelling on the highway. It costs RMB 90 by taxi to the airport and RMB 100 from the airport (to the China Civil aviation office at Wulinmen).

Wushan Mountain has now become a famous mountain with a river on its left and a lake on its right. The best place to get a superb view of Xihu Lake is from the top of the mountain.
- Yuhang Tourist Zone: Yuhang is located in the northeast of Hangzhou, at the southern most part of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It has the largest forested area among the eight districts of Hangzhou. Yuhang is a place of cultural interests and natural landscapes, offering enjoyable activities of sightseeing, mountain climbing, appreciating the lovely view of plum flowers, picking of loquats, swimming and boat rides.
- Phoenix Mountain: the Phoenix Mountain is located southeast of Xihu Lake. With an altitude of 178 metres, it extends from the south to the north, like a flying phoenix with its left wing on the Xihu Lake and right wing on the Qiantang River.
- Song City: the largest theme park in China showcasing the culture of the Song dynasty. It comprises of the area depicted in the Qingming Shanghe Painting (Riverside Scene of Qingming Festival), Art Square, Jiulongzhu Cluster Area, Yingzhou Xianshan Area, the Imperial Palace of the Southern Song Dynasty etc. P palaces, postal stations, stores and workshops, market place, Rainbow Bridge, gate towers, Xianshan (secluded mountains), the countryside and folk cultural performances along the streets mirrored the prosperity of Bianjing and Lin’an in the Song dynasty.
