September 14, 2011 - CAAC acknowledged Hainan Airlines, the 4th largest airline in China, with the Flight Safety Award early September of 2011.
As customary since 2006, CAAC has been delivering flight safety awards for carriers that have flown a certain number of hours. Hainan Airlines made its mark of flying 3 million hours and earning the Three-Star Flight Safety Award.
June 22, 2011 - Upon earning the SKYTRAX Five-Star Airline award in early 2011, Hainan Airlines can now add to its growing resume the “Best Airline in China” and “Airline Staff Service Excellence in China” awards for 2011.
SKYTRAX President Edward Plaisted presented the awards to Hainan Airlines President Chen Ming at the 2011 Paris Air Show, stating that Hainan Airlines has grown quickly in the past year and has maintained a very high standard of service and internalization.

January 10, 2011 - Hainan Airlines was awarded the honor of a “SKYTRAX Five-Star Airline” at a gala awards ceremony in Beijing. The award was presented by SKYTRAX President Edward Plaisted to Hainan Airlines President Wang Ying Ming. With this award, Hainan Airlines officially becomes the world’s seventh five-star airline.
At the SKYTRAX award ceremony, HNA Group Chairman Mr. Chen Feng said, “By winning the ‘SKYTRAX five-star award’, Hainan Airlines now becomes one of the most successful brands in the industry.”
London-based SKYTRAX, a research and certification organization for the air transportation industry founded in 1989, evaluates more than 200 airlines around the world each year in regards to their service quality.
The star rankings reflect the customer experience – not just the platform of product standards offered by an airline such as cabin seating, in-flight entertainment and catering, but the assessment of service quality – using a rating system made up of more than 800 different areas of product and service delivery for each airline.

January 10, 2011 - Hainan Airlines, the largest non-state owned Chinese airline, was awarded a 5-star airline rating by Skytrax, the world's most recognized airline service quality rating organization.
Marlin Daley, Vice President of Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, attended the ceremony on behalf of Boeing and presented a special gift to Vice Chairman Wang Jian of HNA Group - a poster featuring a Boeing 787 Dreamliner in Hainan Airlines livery with the theme, "Chinese Service, Global Brand", which is like a dream come true for the whole Chinese airline industry.
