Wheelchair service

A passenger requesting wheelchair service is a passenger who, due to disability, illness or injury, requires the aid of wheelchair for mobility.

Types of assistance for a passenger requesting wheelchair service.

WCHR (WHEELCHAIR FOR RAMP – normal wheelchair) – Passenger can ascend/descend steps, can make his/her own way to/from their seat on board the aircraft and requires a wheelchair for the distance to/from the aircraft. The number of passengers accepted per flight is not limited. The WCHR service must be requested by the passenger at least 48 hours before departure time.

WCHS (WHEELCHAIR FOR STEPS) wheelchair – Passenger cannot ascend/descend steps, but can make his/her own way to/from their seat in the aircraft, requires wheelchair for distance to/from the aircraft and must be provided level boarding (jet way, jet bridge, or by use of a mechanical lift).

WCHC (WHEELCHAIR FOR CABIN SEAT) aisle chair – Passenger is completely immobile, requires a wheelchair to/from the aircraft, must be provided level boarding (jet way, jet bridge, mechanical lift) and must be carried to /from their seat in the aircraft. Passengers requesting WCHC need escort for themselves.

Wheelchair Reservations:

Should you require this assistance, please contact the Hainan Airlines call center or designated office. Passengers who require wheelchair service need to fill out a Special Needs (Wheelchair) Application Form at checking to provide the details of the assistance level.

Passengers who require wheelchair service with medical conditions where there is reasonable doubt that the individual can complete the flight safely, without requiring extraordinary medical assistance during the flight, or there is a threat passenger having a condition would be seriously exacerbated by the flight itself, should provide the required Medical Certificate when making the reservation.

Passengers who require wheelchair service, with a mobility impairment so severe that the passengers are unable of physically assisting in his or her own evacuation, should travel with an safety escort.

Airport service for passengers requesting wheelchair:

Hainan airlines customer service and contract personnel are available to assist customers in boarding, deplaning and transferring between gates using wheelchair, electric carts and aisle chairs. Passengers with advance requests will be given priority over requests made on board or on arrival.

Checking Your Wheelchair:

Hainan Airlines transports all types of assistive devices, including collapsible and non-folding manual wheelchairs and electric/battery-powered wheelchairs and scooters. Wheel chairs may be checked at the check-in counter or the gate.  You may check your personal wheelchair at the departing gate and arrange for us to return it at the connecting and/or destination gate.

Batteries:

Please identify your wheelchair batteries as either spillable or non-spillable so our employees may establish correct dangerous goods handling procedures.
